Kimberly and Jesse had a gorgeous wedding at The Mansion at Bald Hill in nearby Woodstock, CT. I had not had the privilege of shooting at The Mansion at Bald Hill before and I was blown away by how beautiful the entire property is. There was not one spot I looked at that didn’t lend itself to beautiful portraits. The day was bright and sunny but there was plenty of open shade to do a first look with right out on the front lawn. Kimberly got ready with all of her bridesmaids in a suite upstairs, and after the first look we were able to check all of the family portraits, wedding party portraits and bride and groom portraits off the list! I love first looks for how much time they free up later on.
The ceremony was held with Kim and Jesse’s friends and family as witnesses. They chose the ceremony area on the property that has a gorgeous arbor. Kim’s Great Gatsby colours popped against the dark wood. Seriously, it was all so pretty! After the ceremony, the guests (along with the bride and groom!) enjoyed cocktail hour, and then the reception started. Kimberly gets 5,000 points in my book because she had a very serious flossing competition with her nephew, AND she did a CARTWHEEL in her WEDDING DRESS in front of everyone! Seriously. I can barely do a cartwheel in regular clothes with no audience. We were all seriously impressed.
We ended the evening with a pretty backlit portrait in front of the mansion. Major thanks to my second shooter, Irena Mandel, for knocking it out of the park as always!
